What is NAV Online Számla cross-check?
A NAV Online Számla cross-check queries the Hungarian tax authority's invoice reporting system through its machine-to-machine API to confirm that a received invoice was actually reported by the issuer, with matching amounts, VAT and dates, and that the issuer's tax number is active. It catches fake, altered and unreported invoices before they are booked or paid.

What the check returns
The official XML for the invoice, which the automation compares field by field with what the AI extracted from the PDF. Any difference, or a supplier on the suspended or deleted tax number list, raises an alert to finance.
Frequently asked questions
Is API access to NAV available to any company?
Yes. A technical user is created in the Online Számla portal and its credentials are used by the automation; no special licence is required.
